Motorcycle exhaust gas analysis

LEARN TO INTERPRET THE VALUES YOUR EXHAUST GAS ANALYZER PROVIDES YOU AND USE IT FOR MORE THAN PASSING MOT’s.

Stop paying attention only to CO and testing parts “just in case….

It is common to have a gas analyzer in the workshop to verify CO emissions and to be able to offer the service of passing the MOT to customers.

But did you know that the information provided by the gas analyzer can help you to solve all kinds of failures?

In this course you will learn how to interpret the values of all gases so you can go straight to the point and know what to adjust, which component to repair or which part to replace.

INTRODUCTION TO ANALYZER USE

Before we start, we will put you in the picture and you will discover how valuable the information provided by the gas analyzer is.

CARBON DIOXIDE

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a compound of carbon and oxygen that exists as a colorless gas under standard temperature and pressure conditions. It is closely related to the greenhouse effect.

CARBON MONOXIDE

Carbon monoxide, whose chemical formula is CO, is a colorless, highly toxic gas. It can cause death when breathed at high levels. It is produced by the poor combustion of substances such as gas, gasoline, kerosene, coal, oil, tobacco or wood.

OXYGEN

Under normal conditions of pressure and temperature, two atoms of the element bond to form dioxygen, a colorless, odorless, tasteless diatomic gas with the formula O2. This substance is an important part of the atmosphere and is necessary to sustain life on Earth.

HYDROCARBONS

All motorcycles are equipped with a self-diagnostic system that, in addition to alerting the rider that something is wrong, tells the workshop what the problem is. But these systems vary according to their Euro/OBD stage and can confuse you, making you waste a lot of workshop time diagnosing. We explain it all to you; up to Euro5 .

NITROGEN OXIDES

Nitrogen oxides are released into the air from the exhaust of motor vehicles (especially diesel and lean-burn vehicles).
Because of their adverse health effects, their levels have been regulated by environmental and/or health standards.

LAMBDA

It is your value if you want to know what goes into the engine intake  (rich, lean, stoichiometric).

GAS ANALYZER USE

We explain how to interpret the values described in the specific units of each gas, show you real examples and provide you with a quick reference table to help you remember everything.

TEXA GASBOX

To create the course we have used the TEXA GASBOX gas analyzer due to its great popularity and use through desktop application.

It is a simple, practical and reliable system for gas measurement, offering readings of 5 gases as well as lambda factor.

Remember that the course is generic and is valid for any other type of exhaust gas analyzer.
